Smoked Bros Homemade Hot Sauce Recipe

Hot sauce has become a staple in households and military chow halls one the last 20 years. Everyone has their favorite brand, but why not make your own bottle of hot sauce? The recipe below is a 15 minute guide to making your own hot sauce and you can tailor the heat level very simply.


You can't beat the spicy, rich flavor of homemade hot sauce. It's a fun kitchen experiment that you can completely customize make it mild or make it hot as you can stand! Then bottle to use later or to give as a gift to a handmade food gift. The recipe below is bursting with layered flavor with a vinegary, sweet, and smokey spiciness.


Prep Time: 5 minutes Cook Time: 10 minutes Yield: 3 1/2 Cups


**NOTE: This recipe yields 3 1/5 cups of hot sauce. The recipe is still valid when/if cut in half.


Ingredients
  • 4.5 oz - Double Concentrated tomato paste in a tube.

  • 2 cups - Water

  • 5 Tablespoons - Unsalted butter

  • 3 Tablespoons - White distilled vinegar *(You can substitute with apple cider vinegar)

  • 1 teaspoon - Worcester sauce

  • 5 Tablespoon - Smoked Bros Agent Orange Buffalo Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon - Lemon juice

  • 2 - Cloves of garlic minced

  • 5 Tablespoons - granulated sugar or Stevia.

Note:

*You can also substitute maple syrup or any other sweetier you would like.

**Sugar/sweeteners are the means in which you can dial down the heat. Add more to reduce spiciness.

Smoked Bros Homemade Buffalo Sauce

COOKING DIRECTIONS


  • Step 1 Add, heat, and stir all the ingredients in a sauce pan until blended on a medium heat. Ensure all clumps are dissolved and you have an even texture.


  • Step 2

Let simmer until your sauce reaches a thickness that is light, but not yet thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.


Simmer Ingredients to make your own hot sauce.

*NOTE: You can tailor this thickness based on how you will bottle or use the sauce.


  • Step 3 Let cool for a few minutes and then strain if desired to remove garlic.

  • Step 4 Bottle in a glass or food safe plastic with label displaying the heat level and date. This hot sauce will last in the fridge for 2-3 weeks before it will need to be thrown out.
